Salisbury Lantern Procession returns for 2018

6th December 2018

Returning for the seventh year, the Salisbury Lantern Procession is taking place tonight (6th December 2018).

Salisbury BID, Wiltshire Creative and Alabaré have teamed up to bring the festive event to the city once again this year.

The procession is always a magical and festive evening, but the organisers are optimistic that this year’s event will be extra special.

Everyone is being welcomed and encouraged to join the procession.

Last year’s procession saw over 700 lanterns light up the city, and it’s hoped this year even more people will get involved and support the city.

Starting in the Cathedral Close at 6.15pm, the procession travels through the streets of Salisbury before arriving in the Market square where there will be a dance performance for everyone to enjoy.

A giant dinosaur lantern was organised to join the procession, however, unfortunately is now unable to attend because of the rain forecasted.

Alabaré have commissioned their very own giant lanterns to join the procession and 32 glowing umbrellas will also take part.

The organisers are encouraging everyone to get their raincoats on and enjoy the procession!
