Salisbury's businesses back floral displays05.06.2019
Salisbury's hanging baskets and floral displays are being put up around the city this week.
Salisbury City Council and Salisbury BID have worked in partnership this year to bring an array of flower baskets, window boxes, flower towers and planters to the city.
With the fantastic support of local businesses, 420 hanging baskets have been purchased this year which far exceeds records from previous years.
5 new 3 tier planters will be displayed in the High Street. “Gilbert” the flower dragon will also be arriving back in front of Salisbury Guildhall this week.
The colour theme this year is red, white and blue in celebration of National Armed Forces Day being hosted in Salisbury this year (28th – 30th June).
Robin McGowan, Chief Executive of Salisbury BID, said, “Enhancing the appearance of the city is one of the BID’s key priorities. We’re pleased to have worked in partnership with the city council to increase the number of businesses taking part in the floral displays this year. We look forward to seeing Salisbury looking beautiful in full bloom!”
Cllr Sven Hocking, Chair of the City Council’s Environmental Working Group, said “I am delighted that Salisbury businesses have broken a record in supporting the beautiful floral displays going up in the city. They will make an outstanding backdrop to the range of summer events taking place this year”.
