Salisbury Business Welcomes Customers Back To New Look Shop

21st May 2021

Greenfields Gunmakers has given their 13th century premises on Milford Street a whole new look.

The gunsmiths has more than doubled the shop floor space by expanding into the premises next door. It means the historic building is complete again, as it used to be a large medieval banquet hall before being divided.

Not only have they renovated the whole area but they have also added an extension onto the back of the premises. You can see the before and after photos at the bottom of the page.

The larger and much improved shop allows a larger variety of products to be displayed and gives customers more space to browse at their leisure.

Grabriella Gowman, from Greensmiths, said: “After a very long 5 year project which has spanned two exceptionally difficult periods in Salisbury, the Novichok poisonings and a global pandemic, we are so pleased to welcome back our valued customers to our larger and more customer friendly shop. We are proud to be one of the oldest independent businesses in Salisbury and thank our customers for their loyalty over the years.’

Greenfields Gunmakers has occupied the original premises on Milford Street, Salisbury for more than 75 years.

Over that time, they have grown to become stockists of one of the largest selections of new and used guns in the country. As well as the finest shotguns and rifles they also stock a wide range of country clothing, footwear and accessories and have three gunsmiths on site for repairs and servicing.

Customers visit regularly from all over the country, as far as Cornwall and Norfolk. They also have an international client base with regular customers from Texas, Belgium and France.

Dan Collins, Business Manager at Salisbury BID, said: “We are very lucky to have Greenfields as part of our business community here in Salisbury. They bring new people to the city from across the country – and world! After a tough few years, it is encouraging to see an independent Salisbury business continue to grow and invest.”
