Appeal to businesses for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

7th April 2020

Wiltshire Police and Wiltshire Council are appealing to businesses to come forward with any Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) they may have to help support the local efforts in tackling COVID-19.

With high demand for PPE, businesses are being asked to come forward if they have any of the following items:

  • Disposable gloves
  • Disposable aprons
  • Fluid repellent surgical masks (disposable) compliant with BS/EU standards
  • Hand sanitizer (minimum 60% alcohol content)

PPE is vital to help protect frontline workers, allowing them to continue delivering critical services in the community, whilst also limiting the spread of COVID-19.

National supply chains are under significant pressure and every effort is being made to fix the problem, however as a short-term measure locally, businesses are being asked to help provide this equipment if they can.

Chief Constable Kier Pritchard from Wiltshire Police said: “It’s vitally important that we protect our officers and staff on the frontline so they can continue to work as normally as possible, serving and protecting the public of Wiltshire.

“Of course, it’s imperative that the country’s NHS workers take priority and are first in line for any PPE. However, my staff and officers also need that level of protection and I urge any local businesses which can help us out immediately and provide Wiltshire Police and our colleagues at Wiltshire Council with any additional PPE to contact us.

“Your efforts and kind help will be very much appreciated. Thank you.”

Any businesses that can help with the supply of PPE are asked to email CandF.Commissioning@wiltshire.gov.uk with the subject line PPE support.
