Salisbury Business Improvement District

Apply to become a Salisbury BID Board Director

28th July 2021

Business leaders are being recruited to join the BID's Board of Directors.

Salisbury BID is the business improvement district for the city centre, and is one of the 330 BIDs in the country.

The BID is funded by over 500 business levy payers who are located within the ring road of Salisbury city centre. Businesses with a rateable value of £10,000 or above pay into Salisbury BID through an annual levy, with funds amounting to £350,000 per year. These funds are allocated to projects and services which support the business environment.

Salisbury BID was elected in 2014 and successfully renewed for a second five-year term in March 2019, with a record-breaking ballot result. 90% voted yes with a turnout of 66%.

The BID is looking for Directors to help steer businesses through Covid recovery, through a successful reballot in Autumn 2023 and into a third 5 year term from April 2024.

Applications to join the Board are now OPEN.

The Board will be made up of 11 business representatives with applications from those in the hospitality sector especially sought.

Salisbury BID is committed to creating an inclusive environment and actively encourages applications from underrepresented groups. The BID is keen for its Board to reflect the city’s diversity and welcomes interest from everyone, regardless of gender, age, ethnicity, sexuality, faith or disability.

A BID Director is a voluntary position, and you must be a Salisbury BID levy-paying business to apply.

The role of a BID Director is to provide governance for the BID company, provide strategic leadership to support the local business environment and to support the BID’s staff team. The full job description can be read here.
