Bunting is a simple concept yet a very effective way to add vibrancy.
As well as multi-coloured bunting, the city dressing will also include an array of red, white and blue bunting in celebration of National Armed Forces Day which is being held in Salisbury this year.
Cllr Mike Osment, The Mayor of the City of Salisbury, said: “The Council is delighted to work with the BID, Wiltshire Creative and Wiltshire Council to dress the city for the events over summer. This compliments the Councils efforts to keep the streets clean and tidy all year around.”
Cllr Pauline Church, Wiltshire Council cabinet member for economic development and South Wiltshire recovery, said: “The city always looks even more attractive when the bunting is up, and we’re delighted that it will be some red, white and blue this year to celebrate Armed Forces Day National Event, to be held from 28-30 June at Hudson’s Field.”
Salisbury BID, Salisbury City Council, Wiltshire Council Area Board and Wiltshire Creative have funded the project to help up-lift the city and make it look it’s best ahead of Salisbury International Arts Festival and National Armed Forces Day.
The bunting will complement the city’s extensive floral display that will come into bloom early June.
As the bunting goes up, the lights wrapping the trees in the Market Place which added warmth and atmosphere over the dark winter months have now been taken down.
