Salisbury BID Chief Executive, Robin McGowan said: “Our members have expressed their concerns that the car parks are being filled with workers by 9am and have very little churn throughout the day, which we fed back to the Strategic Recovery Group.
“The new changes, which includes free parking after 12noon and all-day at the weekend, aims to reduce the number of workers using the car parks which will enable more visitors and shoppers into the city.”
Salisbury’s five Park & Ride sites are still free of charge all-day, and Salisbury BID are encouraging workers to take advantage of this free service.
Wiltshire Council have assured Salisbury BID that they will be consulted before confirming long-term parking arrangements for the city.
Old George Mall will also re-instate their normal car parking charges to allow spaces to become available for shoppers and tourists.
The changes will come into place from Monday 14th May 2018.
There is support and financial assistance available for businesses of Salisbury who are in need. Full details about the support available, including the Emergency Funding Claim Form can be found here. Please do complete the form and feedback to us if we can assist in any way.
