Following the success of previous years, this is now the fourth consecutive year of the Ambassador programme in Salisbury.
This initiative is being managed by Salisbury BID, and is jointly funded by both the BID and Salisbury City Council.
The City Ambassador’s role is to welcome and assist visitors, maximising the enjoyment of their visit to Salisbury.
They will also be:
• Promoting local businesses and attractions
• Promoting events and what’s on in the city centre
• Assisting visitors with any questions they may have
• Giving out city maps and the new Salisbury Indies Pocket Guides
• Reporting any environmental issues to the BID and council
• Recording key visitor information which will be used to help enhance the visitor experience and market Salisbury
This year’s City Ambassadors are Michael Wileman-Cooke, Mary Webb and Thom Belk. They’ll be roaming the city centre until early September.
The Ambassadors are easily identifiable in their bright red uniforms with “City Ambassador” on the back.
Robin McGowan, Chief Executive of Salisbury BID, said: “Promoting the city and our business members is a key priority for the BID, so we’re delighted to be running the City Ambassador initiative this year. Salisbury has so much to offer and the Ambassadors are a great way to promote this to visitors.”
Cllr Jeremy Nettle, Leader of Salisbury City Council, welcomes the City Ambassadors in partnership with the BID and said: “We are keen to ensure that residents and visitors know ‘what’s on’ and are able to navigate their way around our beautiful city.
“Our aim for the Ambassadors is to provide a warm and friendly welcome to everyone visiting our city, which has been rated by the Sunday Times as the best place to live for 2019.”
In partnership with VisitWiltshire, Salisbury BID co-fund the Visit Salisbury website to promote the city to visitors. The Visit Salisbury website has a full events calendar for Salisbury.
