Christmas officially began with the designers from BBC's Interior Design Masters returning to Salisbury on 17th and 18th November to give three lucky levy payers businesses a Christmas makeover.
Amy Davis took the opportunity to create a bespoke Christmas print for Allum & Sidaway! Using white poinsettia as the main flower for the print with some seasonal elements dotted around to create that winter feel Amy included some cathedral type arches to reflect Salisbury’s rich history.
Each piece was suspend from the ceiling to use as a backdrop behind each table. On each display table Amy hand made display cushions for the jewellery out of the same print alongside some rich solid colours in velvet. As well as over 100 hand crafted paper Christmas Trees!
Dean Powell rejuvenated Captive Worlds using some of John's own products. Each mini terrarium was hand made by John and Dean using moss and small plants to tie in with the theme of Captive Worlds. Dean then hung each of the terrariums using fishing wire from the ceiling to create a scattered look across the window.
To tie the whole design together Dean placed larger made terrariums and wooden structures along the floor of the window and intertwined them with small wire fairy lights.
Fran Lee dressed Maul’s Wine & Cheese Bar the finest festive decor. Maul's has been dressed from head to toe with matching giant wreath, garland and hanging baskets. As well as capturing the glow that Maul's are known for with their regular lighting Fran incorporated grapes and corks into her design.
The wreath was completely hand made by Fran with a base of intertwined willow from a local willow weaver. Also added were small "parcels" made from ribbon and corks suspended from the ceiling to look like little presents.
To bring the 48 hours of festivities to an end Salisbury Playhouse kindly hosted an informal Q&A session with all three designers on Friday evening. We were joined by over 30 levy payers along with their staff and family members with all the burning questions they had for the designers. We would like to thank everyone that joined us on Friday, it really was the right way to round off a successful week.
You can see all of these window displays throughout the festive period at each of the locations.
