Salisbury Business Improvement District

New year, new directors for Salisbury BID

20th January 2022

Salisbury BID is pleased to welcome four new Directors to its board.

In total, the BID now has 12 Directors, all from levy-paying businesses from different sectors in the city.

The Board is responsible for the strategic and financial management of the BID, and it’s their responsibility to ensure good management of the BID.

The new members went through an application process and were officially confirmed at the last AGM.

The new Directors are:

Elizabeth Coombes

Elizabeth and one of her oldest friends, Simon, opened The Artisan Wine & Spirit Co on Winchester Street in May 2021. They’re proud to be Salisbury’s only dedicated and totally independent wine and spirit shop.

Elizabeth feels she has the ideal background to build a successful business in Salisbury: “Having worked as a wine buyer for a supermarket, I understand the need to support and help independent businesses thrive and this is replicated in the shop’s support of small producers.”

Arnold Catterall

Arnold is the Centre Manager at the Old George Mall. He’s worked in shopping centres for 25 years and, whilst in Southampton, was also a Director of the City Centre Management Group, Streets Ahead Southampton.

Arnold said: “I work to increase the viability and vitality of Old George Mall to make it a destination with a wide appeal, this work goes hand in hand with the other stakeholders including Salisbury BID working toward the same for the City and I hope to collaborate to achieve the best for both.”

Shane O’Neill

Shane is the co-owner of the Old Ale and Coffee House on Crane Street. He’s been in the city for five years after moving here from London and Shane says he’s “looking forward to many more”.

Peter Beck

Peter has lived in Salisbury for most of his life and for 25 years has been the owner of Salisbury Antiques Market on Catherine Street.

Peter said: “On a daily basis I’m front of house and meeting with local and visiting customers who our city’s businesses so depend on. I look forward to contributing towards Salisbury’s future success.”

Salisbury BID would like to say a huge thank you to our three outgoing Directors: Ian Newman, Hugh Davies and Mark Ward, who all stepped down at the November AGM. Their input has been invaluable.
