Revised guidance for flexible furlough scheme

The government has published revised guidance for the flexible furlough scheme from 1st July 2020.

The Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme guidance has been updated to include details on how the scheme will change from 1st July 2020.

Designed to help businesses retain their staff during the pandemic, the scheme sees the Government cover the cost of 80% of an employees wages, up to the value of £2,500 a month.

10,800 people in the Salisbury constituency are being supported by the furlough scheme, and over 7.5 million people across the country.

Prior to 1st July 2020, employees on furlough cannot undertake any work for your company other than training. From 1st July, employers will:

  • only be able to claim for employees who have previously been furloughed for at least 3 consecutive weeks taking place any time between 1st March 2020 and 30th June 2020
  • be able to flexibly furlough employees – this means you can bring your employees back to work for any amount of time, and any work pattern
  • still be able to claim the furlough grant for the hours your flexibly furloughed employees do not work, compared to the hours they would normally have worked in that period
