Wiltshire Digital Drive is a Community Interest Company (CIC) that refurbishes and recycles donated laptops and other devices to gift back to the community, enabling education.
From April to December 2020, 225 laptops were refurbished, recycled and passed on to schools, charities, voluntary organisations, the local council and families in need. The overall mission of WDD is to refurbish and gift 10,000 laptops between 2020 and 2023.
In order to make it easier for businesses to donate, and to help reach that 10,000 total, Wilsons Solicitors LLP have opened a collection point for laptops, computers and tablets. Devices can be taken to their Salisbury office every Monday and Wednesday from 11am to 1pm.
Dan Collins, Salisbury BID Business Manager, said: “We have seen what an impact the pandemic has had on education and when we heard about the amazing work of the Wiltshire Digital Drive we wanted to show our support. We hope by Wilsons Solicitors LLP opening a drop-off point in Salisbury it will make it easier for businesses to donate their unwanted devices. Many of us have old laptops or tablets collecting dust, either at home or in the office, so this project will put them to good use and really help a child's education. A big thank you to Wilsons Solicitors LLP who have allowed the collection to take place.”
