Salisbury Lantern Workshops

22nd October 2018

Workshops are being held to give people the opportunity to learn how to make traditional willow and tissue paper lanterns, ahead of the annual Lantern Procession in Salisbury.

Salisbury BID, Wiltshire Creative and Alabaré have teamed up to bring the event to the city once again this year.

The lantern making workshops are taking place at the following times and locations:

• Tuesday 30th October: 10am – 3pm at Salisbury Arts Centre (Public drop in session)
• Wednesday 7th November: 5pm – 8pm at Salisbury Arts Centre (CPD session for teachers and group leaders, to book contact kat.jones@wiltshirecreative.co.uk)
• Saturday 1st December: 10am – 3pm at Salisbury Arts Centre (Public drop in session)

The workshops are free of charge and all materials will be provided.

Returning for the seventh year, the Lantern Procession will take place on 6th December 2018.

Starting in the Cathedral Close, the procession travels through the streets of Salisbury before arriving in the Market square.

The procession is always a magical and festive evening, but the organisers are optimistic that this year’s event will be extra special.

Last year’s procession saw over 700 lanterns light up the city, and it’s hoped this year even more people will get involved and support the city.

The procession is being led by Alabaré, Salisbury’s local charity which supports homeless and vulnerable people. The charity will be fundraising on the night to help them to continue to provide life changing care and support.
