The public are invited to vote for Salisbury landmarks to feature in the game over a two-week voting period.
Salisbury Cathedral, Stonehenge and Salisbury Racecourse are the obvious spots for the board, but what iconic shops, cafes, pubs and other businesses should feature on the Salisbury MONOPOLY board?
The board will be themed in sets: from tourism to heritage, culture to shopping, hotels to sport, education to business, charity to travel – and lots more.
The Chance and Community Chest cards are being themed too.
Votes for Salisbury landmarks and cards to feature in the game can be placed by:
• Emailing salisbury@winningmoves.co.uk • Visiting the official Salisbury MONOPOLY Facebook page • Posting to "Salisbury MONOPOLY, Winning Moves UK, 7 Praed Street, London W2 1NJ"
Polling closes at 23.59pm on Wednesday 26th February 2020.
Salisbury's version of MONOPOLY will be available from October 2020.
George Shrimpton from the game’s makers Winning Moves UK says: “It was always a case of when we bestowed the MONOPOLY honours for Salisbury – not if. Two years ago we were about to make an announcement but pulled it at the last minute in view of the challenging situation facing the city.
“This edition will feature the great and good of Salisbury and we are expecting to be wonderfully spoilt for choice putting it together.
“Salisbury Cathedral, Stonehenge, The Guildhall, Museum, Arundells – the city is blessed with landmarks that attract millions from across the UK and the world.”
Mr Shrimpton also expects to be fielding calls for a coffee house on every corner of the board – on the basis there's a coffee room on every Salisbury street corner in real life!
In partnership with VisitWiltshire, Salisbury BID co-fund the Visit Salisbury website to promote the city to visitors. The Visit Salisbury website has a full events calendar for Salisbury.
