The Chancellor gives diners 50% off meals

8th July 2020

The Chancellor has announced a scheme to encourage people to eat in cafes, restaurants and pubs.

The "Eat Out to Help Out" scheme will give people 50% discount off their restaurant bill during August 2020.

The deal means people can get a maximum of £10 off per head, including children, if they eat out in participating restaurants Monday to Wednesday.

Businesses will need to register via a website (from Monday 13th July) to be a part of this scheme. Businesses can claim back the money from Government and will be paid within 5 working days.

The scheme is just one of the measures outlined in the Chancellor's Summer Economic Update. Find out more here.
