Theresa May Meets Salisbury BID

15th March 2018

Prime Minister Theresa May visited Salisbury today and heard straight from Salisbury BID directors and members about the actions businesses want to see.

Robin McGowan, CEO of Salisbury BID, had the opportunity to discuss with Mrs May the impact recent events have had on businesses in Salisbury.

Theresa May has confirmed that the government will provide support of a variety of forms, including financial support.

"The government has already stood up its recovery group, we’re now looking at how we can work with the local council to ensure that we’re giving the support that is needed for local people and local businesses.”

Mrs May stressed that the city continued to see business going on as usual.

Speaking afterwards, the Prime Minister said: “What I have heard from businesses here is that they do want support and it will be given by the council and the government to ensure that the city can recover, that we see tourists coming back to the city in the numbers that we have seen previously.

“Salisbury is open for business, it is business as usual here. It is a great city, a wonderful place to come and visit. Historic, beautiful – Salisbury is open.”
