Salisbury Business Improvement District

Volunteer as a CCTV operator

6th June 2019

Salisbury’s CCTV needs more volunteers to help monitor the system.

Salisbury City Council and Salisbury BID jointly fund the CCTV system to make sure it stays operational.

Their collective aim is to ensure the city is a safe and pleasant place for businesses, residents and visitors.

Salisbury city centre’s CCTV system operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and has been recording since August 2017, after the cameras were switched off in 2016.

CCTV Manager, Richard Goodman, is working with a team of volunteers who monitor the system at key times, based in a control room at Bourne Hill.

He is now recruiting more volunteers to join the team.

Richard Goodman, Salisbury CCTV Manager, said: “Becoming a volunteer for Salisbury’s CCTV is a great way of giving back to your community and supporting the city.

“If you have good communication skills, are able to work under pressure and are committed to Salisbury’s security and public safety, then we’d love to hear from you.”

All volunteers will be trained to a professional standard and will work within in a strict code of practice.
