Opportunities For Salisbury BID Levy Payers To Get Involved In A303 Project

Archive

A zoom meeting is being held on 12th January for businesses interested in becoming part of the supply chain for Highways England as they get ready to start the A303 Stonehenge Project.

The A303 improvement project will be the largest road scheme to be built in the south-west in recent years, and will create many opportunities for Salisbury BID levy payers. It will see the road past Stonehenge between Amesbury and Berwick upgraded to a new dual carriageway with a tunnel, removing traffic from much of this iconic setting.

Due to the large amount of work needed, resources including accommodation, office space, food and drink, portable offices, workshops, and construction staff will be needed.

At the moment the main build contractor has not been appointed and construction work will not start until 2022/2023 but there is a vast amount of preparatory and enabling works to carry out before the main work gets underway.

To support Highways England, Salisbury Chamber will host a 30 minute introduction with A303 Stonehenge Project Manager, David Bullock, for local businesses interested in becoming part of the supply chain. This will take place on Tuesday 12th January at 2pm via Zoom.

David will give a brief run through of what the scheme is, along with an outline of what opportunities may be available in the coming months and in the longer term when the main contractor comes on board.

Highways England are also planning a virtual “Meet the Buyer” for the week commencing 18th January which will give a more in-depth view and introduce free online training opportunities with the Supply Chain Sustainability School.

Any Salisbury BID levy payers interested are being encouraged to join in next week and sign up to the supply chain listing.
