Promoting & Supporting

Salisbury: Your City of Independents

Salisbury City of Independents was developed to showcase the diverse range of independent businesses in Salisbury.

Salisbury BID developed the idea to bring promotion and support to smaller businesses. Indies are at the heart of Salisbury. This City of Independents has a large amount of independent business compared to overall business. This is something that Salisbury BID wants to celebrate.

All BID levy payers that are independent businesses can receive more promotion and opportunities through these channels and be involved in many different campaigns over the coming years.

We are here to promote and support independent businesses. At the bottom of this page are some useful resources about social media tips as well as links to the latest Indie news and E-Shots.

Indies Week

Indies Week is an annual rallying call for everyone to recognize the significance of independent retailers and their positive impact on the local economy.

With their unrivalled community spirit and dedication to delivering exceptional products and services, independent businesses play a vital role in shaping the unique character of Salisbury.

Indies Week aims to create awareness about the exceptional offerings available from our independent retailers, including boutique shopping, award-winning hospitality, cutting-edge art galleries, and more.

What is classed as a Salisbury Indie?

A Salisbury independent business is an owner-run business based in Salisbury city centre.

The owner has complete control of and sole responsibility for branding, marketing, merchandising, staffing and sales. Multisite businesses will only have their Salisbury based business promoted through our channels.

‘Your City of Independents’ will be most beneficial to retailers, food and drink, and accommodation providers, however all business types, including professional services, will be encouraged and welcomed to be involved.
