Christmas in Salisbury

The Christmas in Salisbury promotional partnership is led by Salisbury BID with the support of Wiltshire Council, Salisbury City Council, Salisbury Cathedral and Wiltshire Creative.

Salisbury BID manages a dynamic and targeted Christmas marketing campaign that cohesively joins together festive activity across the city. The City of Stars brand was established in 2023 and has grown exponentially over the past 2 years, creating an engaging theme for the city that streamlines visitor awareness and encourages easy participation from local businesses and communities.

These campaigns have shown marked success in awareness and engagement, attracting visitors by strengthening our city's appeal.

Brochure Printing & Distribution

2024's 'Christmas in Salisbury' brochures contained details of over 45 varied festive events, QR codes for easy access to the Christmas Hub as well as whole-page promotions for key Christmassy events.

Key Statistics

170,000 Christmas Brochures were printed by Salisbury BID.

 - 143,000 for a door-to-door mail drop

 - 27,000 for city distribution

Christmas on Social Media

During November and December, Experience Salisbury's Facebook and Instagram accounts become a hub for fun, festive content.

These Christmassy posts promote the city's events, retailers, hospitality businesses and more.

Key Statistics

- 1.14 million views on ES Christmas social media content 

- 547 new followers on Facebook and Instagram 

- 396 pieces of content created in-house 

Christmas on the Experience Salisbury Website

Experience Salisbury's Christmas Hub is a comprehensive guide to all of the festive fun happening in Salisbury each Christmas season.

2024's content included What's On Guides, individual event listings, Indie Gift Guides, details of the City of Stars Light Trail and a Festive Menu roundup.

- Over 62,000 total website views during the Christmas Campaign

- Over 28,000 total active website users during the Christmas Campaign

- Over 175 events were added to the Experience Salisbury Christmas Hub

Festive Shopping Evening

Salisbury BID organised and managed 2024's Festive Shopping Evening.

This was an exclusive late-night shopping event on 05 December including both high street brands and independent stores. 

In addition to the extended opening hours, there were also exclusive offers for shoppers to enjoy and musical performances across the city to help spread festive cheer.

- 107 open businesses across the city 

- 32 exclusive offers

- 15 elf helpers handing out maps and offering directions

- 3 performing groups 

Starry Business Windows

50 city centre businesses were given free window illustrations in 2024, in line with Salisbury's City of Stars theme, thanks to Salisbury BID.

The illustrations were completed by local artist Michele Millidge and several other local artists.

All of these windows were then showcased in an Experience Salisbury Reel and a blog post was also created showcasing the windows.
